Development and realisation of a poll concept in order to establish the resources and potential of an old-age home in Werneck, an institution of in-patient senior care





Background
Changes of the legal framework conditions and the demographic development lead to a new care situation in in-patient senior care. As a result of the Care Quality Control Law (PQsG), the internal quality management in an institution of in-patient senior care becomes especially meaningful. Every old-age home is requested to introduce and develop further an extensive, institution-internal quality management. One of the first steps in establishing such a quality management is the questioning of inhabitants, relatives, co-workers and stakeholders from the region, or medical doctors, with regard to their satisfaction with the offers of the home, the quality of care and the working conditions.



Aims and procedure
The aim of the project was to further improve the internal quality management of an in-patient institution. Different groups of people were to be questioned, in order to establish the problems and resources within the institution, to support the use of uncovered possibilities and deficits and to develop approaches to a potential analysis within the institution. Polls were taken with inhabitants, co-workers, relatives or caregivers, doctors and stakeholders in the region. During the preparational phase, the concrete aims of the organisation are clarified and the formation of the questionnaires accordingly adjusted. Then a discussion is held concerning the developed materials for obtaining data. The data-obtaining phase begins with the simultaneous preparation of the co-workers and the inhabitants of the institution as well as the sending of the questionnaires to the external target groups. Afterwards the co-workers receive the questionnaires. At the same time the interviews with the individual inhabitants, doctors and stakeholders take place. In the assessment phase the data is processed and subsequently reported to the customer. The feedback occurs in the form of a presentation and a final report.
