Abstract:
This project aims at identification of neurobiological factors that modulate disease outcome in multiple sclerosis lesions. In particular, neurotrophic cytokines supporting survival of oligodendrocytes will be studied. In transgenic mice lacking BCL2, CNTF or the receptor for the neurotrophic cytokine insulin-like factor 1 EAE will be induced and further characterized on the molecular level.
