Abstract:
The function of the NAIP protein, a member of the gene family of BIR-domain inhibitors of caspases was investigated in PC12 cells. We found that this protein prevents cell death but also inhibits axon growth, by this means prohibiting therapeutic strategies for gene transfer of NAIP in neurodegenarative disorders.
