Contribution of Ca2+-permeable AMPA/KA receptors to glutamate-induced Ca2+rise in embryonic lumbar motoneurons in situ

Receptors of the AMPA/KA-family modulate dendrite growth in cultured neurons. We could show, that embryonic motoneurons in tissue-specific slice cultures exhibit Ca influx after activation of AMPA receptors, and that by this way dendrite growth synaptogenesis is regulated during a critical phase of embryonic development between embryonic day 13 and postnatal day 2.
