Abstract:
Postoperative scarring with consecutive therapeutic failure is the major problem in glaucoma surgery. The goal of this project is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms driving the conjunctival healing and scarring processes. The cytokine TGF-beta has a pivotal role in wound healing and is expressed at elevated levels in glaucomatous eyes. Therefore, the project focuses on TGF-dependent signaling in conjunctival tissue .
