Robust positive observation
Project management at the University of Würzburg:
Positive systems have state variables that have only nonnegative values. Such systems model a wide range of applications in automatic control, ranging from the control of industrial processes involving chemical reactors or distillation columns, to water storage problems, biochemical reaction systems and atmospheric pollution models. A challenge for future engineering applications in such areas lies in the ability to develop robust observer design techniques, that meet intrinsic positivity constraints. In this project we will exactly do this, by combining methods from semidefinite programming and robust control with those from nonlinear optimization theory.
