The purpose of the project is the in depth study of factorizations of polynomial
and rational matrix functions. In addition to establishing a general factorization
theory, with parallel results for quadratic matrix equations, numerical and
geometric issues are studied as well. Other important aspects are the study of
factorizations of rectangular polynomial matrices, and its connections to zero
structures and geometric control theory.
