Research foci (and basic equipment-based research projects):
compact buildings, symmetric spaces, Lie groups
Results:
Compact buildings play an important role in
connection with compactifications of
p-adic and Riemannian symmetric spaces. The
classification of these buildings under suitable
homogeneity asumptions has applications in
Riemannian geometry and geometric group theory.
