Abstract:
Particle physics will enter a new era with the start of the LHC as now fundamental questions like the origin of matter or the nature of dark matter will be answered. This will then be further investigated at a future linear collider ILC. This project will focus signal- and background process calculations at the LHC and ILC within the following topics: search for Higgs bosons and supersymmetric particles and measurement of their properties like couplings and spin; flavour mixing in the squark and slepton sectors; extra dimensions and non-commutative geometries. For the simulation of these processes an extension of existing Monte-Carlo programs will be necessary. This project is part of the strategic Helmholtz alliance ''Physics at the Terascale''.
