Abstract:
The application of carbon nanostructures in energy storage applications requires the characterization of their relevant properties. The task of the group from Wuerzburg University within the project comprises the structural characterization of the carbon nanostructures. They are investigated with respect to long and short range order as well as their surface properties. Methods applied are SEM, gas sorption, He-Pycnometry , small angle x-ray scattering, Raman Spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, and IR-Spectroscopy. The extensive characterization aims at finding out correlations between the properties of the carbon nanofibers and the characteristics in both energy storage applications to allow for a specific tailoring of the carbon nanofibers.
