Third-party-funded project

Genetic and molecular analysis of p21 activated kinase (PAK) mediated signal transduction during eye and brain development of Drosophila melanogaster

Project management at the University of Würzburg:

Participating scientists:

The family of p21 activated kinases (PAKs) are involved in many cellular processes, including cell morphogenesis, axonal growth and cell death. In a genetic screen for mutations affecting the structural organisation of the Drosophila brain, a novel PAK protein was identified. The aim of this project is to combine genetic and biochemical approaches to functionally characterise the role of this PAK protein in eye and brain development and to identify interaction partners.
