Evaluation of a planning intervention in combination with telephone aftercare for physical activity
Project management at the University of Würzburg:
The effects of medical rehabilitation often tend to decrease over time. Patients have difficulties in maintaining lifestyle-changes in the long run and implementing them into their everyday life. Therefore a planning intervention for physical activity in combination with telephone aftercare, which aims to facilitate the perpetuation of lifestyle changes, is offered for obese patients.
The aim of the study is to evaluate the effects of the combined treatment (inpatient rehabilitation plus planning intervention and aftercare) compared to inpatient rehabilitation alone. Primary outcome measures are weight reduction and physical activity.
A randomized, controlled study is employed with data collection at the beginning and end of inpatient rehabilitation as well as after 6 and 12 months. 618 patients will be included in the study.
