Third-party-funded project

NFAT Transscription Factors as Senors ans Switch Factors of Lymphopoiesis in vivo

Project management at the University of Würzburg:

Participating scientists:

The aim of this project is to elucidate the function of individual NFATc1 proteins in

defined populations of peripheral lymphocytes. We intend to create ?NFATc1 reporter

mice? for the analysis of NFATc1 expression in tissues and single cells. By `knocking in`

RFP cDNAs in the Nfatc1 locus those mice will express RFP under the control of

endogenous locus, either as a RFP indicator alone or as chimeric RFP/NFATc1 proteins.

Together with established reporter mice they will allow optical `real-time analyses` of

Nfatc1 activity during T cell activation, differentiation and apoptosis in vivo.
