Title:
The Role of GABP Transcription Factors in the Differentiation and Activation of lymphoid Cells.

Project management at the University of Würzburg:

Participating scientists:

Abstract:
GABP proteins belong to the large family of Ets transcription factors and play an important role in the activity control of several lymphokine promoters, such as of IL-2 and IL-15 promoters. We have established GABPalpha-deficient ES cells and mice which bear one defective GABPalpha allele. Unfortunately, homozygous GABPalpha-/- embryos die already before day 7 of gestation suggesting an important role for GABPalpha in early embryogenesis. Experiments are in progress to establish transgenic mice containing floxed GABPalpha alleles which allow the conditional inactivation of GABPalpha in T lymphocytes.
