Abstract:
Thus far, there is no reliable data to assess the impact of primo- and re-infection with influenza on disease severity in preschool-children. The purpose of this multicenter surveillance-study in Bavarian paediatric practices is to investigate laboratory-confirmed primo- and reinfections in preschool-children and to compare their severity. Such data are important to understand the development of the immunity against influenza and for the development of vaccination programs. Additionally, data of frequency, treatment and outcome of influenza and other viral agents associated with symptomatic acute respiratory infections in paediatric practices are collected.
