Laser ablation ICP-MS and EMP on monazite for dating of deformation and metamorphism of metapelites in the Léon (Armorican Massif, France)

Abstract:

In-situ analyses of REE, trace elements and U-Th-Pb in monazite by laser ablation ICP-MS and electron microprobe are used to date metamorphism of metapelites. Main element analyses with EMP on metapelite mineral assemblages and microstructurally controlled geothermobarometry allow quantification of pressure-temperature path of metamorphism. The combination of metamorphic ages and P-T path gives an insight to the geotectonic evolution of the Léon during Variscan continental collision.
