Third-party-funded project

The bidirectional relation between affect and behavior in the context of processing social information

Project management at the University of Würzburg:

Participating scientists:

Cognitive and affective processes can be regulated either automatically or in a controlled manner. In this project, the automatic regulation of social cognition and behavior will be experimentally examined. We test the assumption that an appetitive and an aversive system regulate the preactivation of corresponding behavioral tendencies on the basis of the valence of the processed information. More specifically, we examine a) whether both systems can also be activated by social stimuli and b) whether these basic systems influence evaluations and the intensity of emotions.
