Research foci (and basic equipment-based research projects):

Cognitive mechanisms of human behavioral control: The research departs from the hyptheses that human voluntary behavior is determined by anticipations of the to-be-produced sensorial effects. Experiments around the following topics are performed:
1. Modelling of the formation of anticipative control structures.
2. Acquisition of effector-specific behavioral knowledge

3. behaviorally determined attention

4. Experimental exploration of intentional processes

Numerous experiments confirm that reliable action-effect relations are abstracted out of the continuous stream of behavior and that voluntary behavior is indeed preceded by effect anticipations which specifically influence the execution of the behavior. The findings provide an account on how intentions evoke bodily movements in congruency with what was willed.
