Research foci (and basic equipment-based research projects):
The research focus concerns developmental changes in various cognitive functions. In particular, changes in different aspects of memory, intelligence, metacognitive knowledge, and problem solving skills have been addressed.
Our results show that in most domains cognitive abilities improve rapidly over the preschool and elementary school years. In comparison, only small increases are observed from early adolescence on. For most of the cognitive abilities assessed in our studies individual differences seem to occur rather early in development and stay stable over time.
