Regulation of root hydraulic conductivity by abscisic acid.
Project management at the University of Würzburg:
The role of the plant stress hormone abscisic acid (ABA)for the regulation
of the hydraulic conductivity of plant roots (Lpr)is studied. On organ and
cellular level relations between ABA effects on Lpr and internal ABA
concentrations of roots are investigated under different environmental
stress and nutritional conditions. Cellular ABA concentrations
are estimated by immunolocalisation. Since there is some evidence for an
involvement of aquaporins in the hormonal regulation of radial water
transport in roots, plants that are geneticaly modified accordingly are
included to the experiments.
