: Isolation and characterization of arylphorin receptors in lepidopteran insects and evaluation of their potential in biocontrol of insect pests.
Project management at the University of Würzburg:
Many insects are pests transmitting severe diseases to men and a variety of animals and plants. As the mechanisms of inducing pathogenity seem to appear as numerous as the vector arthropods, no method exists up to date which is really effective and simultaneously harmless to the environment. Therefore, new strategies have to be evolved. Goal of the mutual project is to develop insecticides based on the work described in the project "Hexamerin receptors as goals for of insecticides". Thus, we have transferred the methods and the know how, which we have aquired during our work with Calliphora, to Lepidoptera.
Projekt period: from 01.1999 to 01.2001
