Abstract:
Actin has a dual localization in eukaryotic cells. Besides forming filaments in the cytoplasm, actin is also an ubiquitous constituent of nuclei. Although present at relatively high concentrations, actin normally does not polymerize within the nuclear compartment into canonical microfilaments. We are analyzing the structure and function of nuclear actin in different model systems.
