Abstract:
The biological role and function of different pore-forming proteins of Entamoeba histolytica and other pathogenic amoeba is under investigation. Archaic cytolytic and antimicrobial mechanisms of free-living and pathogenic protozoa is compared with those of higher eukaryotes (e.g. cytolytic and antimicrobial effector proteins of porcine and human cytotoxic lymphocytes).
