Genotoxicity of Dioxetanes and Photo-Fenton Reagents
Project management at the University of Würzburg:
The chemical, analytical, mechanistic, and biochemical investigations of oxidative DNA damage caused by electronically excited species and oxyl radicals are the main objectives of this multidisciplinary research project in the field of photobiology. The necessary electronically excited species, in particular carbonyl compounds, are generated by direct irradiation of respective ketones or by thermal decomposition of dioxetanes, while oxyl radicals are produced photochemically from photo-Fenton reagents.
