Third-party-funded project

Simulation of Police Emergency Driving

Project management at the University of Würzburg:

Participating scientists:

The project's aim is to develop and test a technologically based and didactically founded driver education system with integrated driving simulation as a training device. Training development is based on a psychological analysis of work- and traffic-related aspects of police emergency driving. This analysis led to the definition of training goals as well as to the training design, i.e. the determination of appropriate training techniques and methods including driving simulation, computer based training or real-traffic driving. The training concept focuses on driving under controlled risk, efficient mission management, team interaction and performance, and stress management. A comprehensive evaluation of the training examines the utility and effectiveness of the new training devices in comparison to conventional education.
